Imagine: A 40-mile or less daily commute without a drop of gas. That's the concept behind the Chevy VOLT now in development. It's simple: Most commuters travel less than 40 miles to and from work. The Chevy VOLT will feature an innovative rechargeable electric drive system that can take you about 40 miles before the gasoline engine starts up; NOT to power the wheels, but to recharge the on-board battery pack. The result: If you travel less than 40 miles each way in your commute, you will never need to use a drop of gas! The Chevy VOLT is a "plug-in" hybrid. When parked, you can plug-in to a standard electrical outlet to recharge the batteries. When traveling on longer trips, the gasoline engine will start up to maintain the battery pack charge resulting in a projected equivalent of 100 miles per gallon! And it is coming soon to Singh Chevrolet. Register for more information below. |
